Upload the spec book, browse it by division, and claim the sections that define what you owe.
The spec book usually arrives as a thousand-page PDF, and "what do we owe on this job" is answered from memory. Upload it once and the book becomes a browsable register that drives your Submittal Log.
Upload the book
On the project's Specifications tab, choose Add Specification and drop in the PDFs. Upload the whole book at once or division by division; the title and MasterFormat section number are read from each file, and the sections roll up under their divisions automatically.
Browse and pull sections out
The book lists every division with its sections. Search by number or words ("process instrumentation" or "40 61 13"), preview a section's own pages without opening the full book, or download a single section or a whole division as its own PDF. That turns "email me just the VFD section" from a splitting exercise into one click.
Claim what is yours
Claiming is how the app learns your scope. For each section you can Claim it or mark it Not ours, and a whole division can be claimed in one action (sections you already decided are left alone). If you import your scope of work, the app proposes likely sections so the book becomes a short list to answer; a decision queue on the tab keeps the next call to make at the top.
Claimed sections are what the Submittal Log reads: each claimed section shows what it actually requires, so what you owe on the project comes from the book instead of from memory. The app also reads your claimed sections against the Equipment Register, surfacing submittals the spec expects that you have not started, so a For Record requirement buried in Part 1 does not surface for the first time at closeout.
- Upload the book on the Specifications tab.
- Import your project scope, or claim sections and divisions by hand.
- Work the decision queue until every "might be yours" section is answered.
- Watch the Submittal Log fill in with what each claimed section requires.
