Answer a returned review's comments on the submittal page and print the log in the resubmittal.
A review comes back with two dozen comments, and the resubmittal cannot go out until every one has an answer. Chasing them through a spreadsheet loses track of which are done. A submittal that carries a Comment Response Log section lists every comment raised against the equipment it covers, shows on each row whether you have answered, and prints the log in the compiled package: item number, their comment, our response, status.
Reading the list
Each comment is one row: its number, whose move it is, its title over the response written so far (or their words while there is none), its severity and category, and where the answer stands. No response yet is the row that needs a person. Written, not sent means the answer is drafted and waits for the next revision, and Submitted for review means it went out with one.
Whose move it is carries a glyph and a word, so the state reads without colour:
- ● Needs us. Nothing has gone back on it. Written but not yet submitted still counts here.
- ○ Awaiting review. The response was submitted and is with the reviewer.
- ✓ Closed. Accepted, or given a closed status.
- - Not counted. Logged without a review round, so nobody's move.
The filters above the list narrow to one of those, or All, each with its count over the whole log. Next unanswered opens the next comment that needs words, top to bottom, and wraps to the top when it reaches the end.
Answering in place
Click a row to open it. Their comment sits above the response box, and the response saves when you leave the box. Pause while typing and a grey draft of the next words appears, written from the comment and the way you have answered similar ones on this project; press Tab to keep it, or keep typing and it steps aside. Nothing is saved until you accept it.
Acceptance records what the reviewer said about the response. Status, Severity, Category and Source sit beneath it, so a comment can be classed without opening the punch list. Each control saves itself and says Saved beside its label.
Open all details opens the full item: earlier rounds, references, the short title, and delete.
Leave a comment out
Leave out of this package takes a comment out of this submittal's log. It stays on the punch list and lists under Not in this package at the bottom of the log, where Bring back returns it.
Adding comments
Add a comment logs one by hand, filed under the equipment group this submittal scopes. Import a workbook reads a returned punch list spreadsheet and files every row, after showing how many it found and where they will go. Comments read from a returned document arrive the same way.
How it prints
The log compiles as its own section, in the position set under Configure sections. Choose Landscape or Portrait for its page under Settings > Numbering & review.
